SRI VIVEKANANDA VRITHI VIDYA KENDRAM VOCATIONAL CENTRE
Organizing Women with Self Employment Training & motivation
Self-help is the Best help.

In the compound of the PNM High school is a small place where a dozen women come together. They assemble there with a will to stand upo to their cause and search for solutions  to their problems. The same place has been working for the past 10 years with the same will and vigour. Named Sri Vivekananda Vrithi Vidya Kendram the Institute is a voccational trining center basically but as part of its vision has decided to equip the women who are selfless and poor, with voccational trades that can make them independent and also socially dignified.

It is not just one more vocational training center. The voccational training center ( S V  V K) has till date trained 320 women in to trained hands in handicrafts, detergent making, pickle making, Fabric designing and some very basic principles of Thrift, Financial management and  marketing. Now more than 70 women are just happy lots with their families out of troubles Thanks to the training they recieved at SVVK.
A 70 ands odd group of women have come together in the name of thrift and they have created a thrift society that has brought confidence in them. These small amounts of their savings from their meagre earnings have many a time saved from emergencies. Then there is one more channel of support thanks to sevabharathi volunteers who have motivated one trust TGT ( TRUST GOVINDA TRUST) to provide micro credit to women. They have now set up Telephone booths, small businesses like vegetable vending, pushing carts for ironing of clothes and the iron box and so on, the success stories from the micro crtedit include, cloth business small time ofcourse, small repair shops, electrician works, Sewing machines, carpentary machines etc.

The trainees  get loan from an NGO Trust Govinda Trust towards microcredit for starting their own small ventures. The microcredit activity is co-ordinate by Sevabharati volunteers who select the needy beneficiaries. The 90 and odd people who received the loan have repaid it, the most striking feature indeed.

A future expansion awaits. Buying more machines and a repair of the building is on cards. Sevabharati plans to reach more needy through the activity.

Let us strengthen the feeble hands that strive to work.
